One Conference, Two Experiences

This year we are offering two ways to engage in Spring Getaway.

Spring Getaway Standard Experience: We will still be offering our general Spring Getaway experience with Journey Groups (small group Bible studies), prayer, retreat time, afternoon workshops and activities, and evening plenaries with worship and a speaker.

MAC (Ministering Across Cultures): In the book of Acts, Jesus sends his followers out to make disciples in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Whether you are ministering on your own campus or beyond, sharing our faith and discipling across differences has always been the plan. Join this track for a deeper understanding of Jesus' plan to minister across differences in ethnicity, gender, age, and more. Experience simulations that will stretch you. And get practical experience to better understand, connect, and minister to others. Track spots are limited.

About Acts

This is the second volume in the unified, two-part work that we know today as Luke-Acts. Both books were written by the same author, Luke, a traveling coworker to Paul. This is clear from the book’s introduction, in which Luke says, “I produced my first volume (that is, the Gospel) about all the things Jesus began to do and teach”. In this opening line, Luke is also giving a clue as to what the book of Acts will be about. In volume one, Jesus began “to do and teach,” and so volume two will naturally be about what Jesus continued to do and teach.

This leads to an interesting point about the book’s traditional, but not original, title, The Acts of the Apostles. While different apostles do appear throughout most of the stories, the only single character who unifies the story from beginning to end is Jesus, appearing personally or acting through the Holy Spirit. The book, therefore, could be more accurately named The Acts of Jesus and the Spirit.
